Click here for more info on From the Ground Up, a series hosted by Jerry King.

Jerry is a multi-titled World Champion in the Cutting, Ranch Sorting and Western Pleasure disciplines.

Being a 3rd generation trainer with a lifetime of experience, Jerry’s methods are effective and proven to get results from the barn to the show pen. Jerry trains horses of all breeds and disciplines because every horse needs a good foundation. King trains From the Ground Up and his episodes will show you how to do the same. Produced by Cushing Media Productions.

Congratulations to Jerry King and Sherry Millis for this year's 2018 APHA World Champion Cutting. Purdyillusionofcolor was Reserve Champion with Jerry in the Senior Cutting and 3rd in the amateur with Sherry. ESR Susanna was 2 times World Championship with Jerry in the JR. Cutting and 4 year old Cutting. Jerry and I would like to dedicate this day to our friend Gene Parker who had a massive heart attack at the APHA World Show Monday morning.
I looked long and hard to find a horse trainer who would respect my horse, be reasonable in price and with what my horse's abilities were, and respect me as a knowledgeable client/rider. In 53 years I've only found one other trainer that comes close to comparing to Jerry's ability and knowledge and he doesn't train horses anymore. People come from across the nation to have their horses trained at Jerry's facility. Jerry hauls horses far and wide to compete and has won national and world events. He is such a humble man, doing what he loves, that many looking at his page might not realize how talented he is. Jerry is a real God given gift to horses, and horse owners who need his help. If I ever am in the market for another horse, I will buy one Jerry has trained "From the Ground Up"! Susan Wolfson

Carsyn came home Friday after 3 months at your place. I loaded him up yesterday and took him to the Moss Foundation in Southern Pines. I could not have asked for him to be any better. He was interested in his surroundings and everything going on but he was brave, calm, quiet..... and very obedient. There were three of us riding and he led, rode in the middle and brought up the rear and he was the same horse no matter where he was. A couple of times their horses acted up but he ignored them and stayed the course. His behavior was what I would expect from a horse with several years of riding experience. I am extremely pleased with Jerry and his staff. Nancy Baker

Liz and Jerry give horses a great foundation for whatever discipline you want to use your horse in...hunter/jumper, dressage, eventing, and driving trainers have all used them to start their young horses. This is also a great place to send horses with attitude problems, they can fix problems, or start young ones and get them headed in the right direction for their future job. Parker and Ed Minchin, Pine Meadow Farm

I just wanted you to know how grateful I am that Woody is in your hands. You are doing the best job starting him. He looks wonderful and happy. I am thrilled. I love this boy dearly having lost my two last foals. Thanks again and I am so pleased you like him! Virginia Springer, Pinehurst, NC

Thank you so much for everything you have done with Ben. I can't believe the difference in him, he's like a new horse. I really enjoyed coming and watching ya'll work with different horses, I learned so much. Please thank everyone who works out at your place for all their help and hospitality. I know where to come if I ever have a problem horse! Best of luck to ya'll, and thank you so much. Alex Martone

Liz, just want to say thank you again for all the work Jerry put into Harley. We are cantering comfortably both ways and eyeing our first show this summer. You guys are wonderful. Mary Phelps

I just wanted to thank you Jerry, Lauren and Liz for doing such a wonderful job training Abbie. She transitioned well at her new farm and I've ridden her every weekend. The instructions you gave me in the arena I remember and used like a voice in my head reminding me. Thanks for making her safe to ride. Elizabeth Sengstaken & Herb Fuller
(This is a mare that Elizabeth was told she could never ride and that the mare could not be broke to ride.)

My wife and I would like to thank you again for such a good time the other day we were at your place. My wife absolutely LOVED riding the cutting horse and I'm SO glad the horse we took up there might be able to do the ranch sorting. We definitely look forward to coming up again. John Schwefel
